Job Overview:
Family First NP Medical Office, a rapidly growing primary care practice, is seeking an experienced, motivated, and highly organized Medical Assistant to join its clinical team. This is a hybrid role combining remote patient care coordination with office-based administrative and clinical support. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment while supporting providers and a diverse patient population.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate patient intake and collect necessary medical and demographic information before appointments
- Answer and manage incoming patient and facility telephone calls professionally
- Review, organize, and route incoming faxes, emails, medical records, lab results, and other clinical correspondence
- Schedule and coordinate patient appointments and follow-up visits
- Monitor scheduling needs and help ensure timely patient follow-up
- Communicate with patients, caregivers, facilities, pharmacies, laboratories, home health agencies, and other healthcare professionals as directed
- Assist providers with clinical documentation and note-taking during or after patient encounters
- Accurately enter and update medication lists, medical histories, allergies, and other patient information in the EHR
- Support medication reconciliation and communicate discrepancies to the provider
- Help coordinate referrals, lab testing, diagnostic services, and other provider orders
- Track outstanding patient-care items and follow up with the provider as needed
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in patient records
- Protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA and office privacy/security requirements
- Perform general clinical and administrative duties to support efficient practice operations
- Work collaboratively with providers and team members to maintain smooth patient flow and continuity of care
Requirements:
- At least one year of Medical Assistant experience in a primary care or comparable outpatient setting
- Experience with high-volume patient populations and independently coordinating multiple patient cases strongly preferred
- Fluent in English, Armenian, and Russian
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong telephone communication and patient-service skills
- Experience working with electronic health records and accurate data entry
- Familiarity with medication lists, medical terminology, primary care workflows, and clinical documentation
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and follow through on pending patient-care matters
- Comfortable working independently with appropriate provider supervision
- Dependable, punctual, responsible, and professional
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfortable in a hybrid clinical environment, including remote coordination and office-based work
- Adaptable to a dynamic, growing medical practice
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with primary care case coordination, patient intake, appointment scheduling, medication reconciliation, EHR documentation, referrals, home health coordination, and communication with residential or community-based healthcare organizations
- Experience assisting physicians, nurse practitioners, or other providers with clinical documentation and follow-up management
Compensation: $25/hour
